ERA Brazil has developed a Biodiversity Stewardship Credits Methodology, developed under the Regen Network’s Regen Registry Program Guide. The Methodology guides landholders to become biodiversity stewards by applying interventions (project activities) that generate positive outcomes for a selected Umbrella Species and ecosystem under management. Biodiversity Stewardship Credits are calculated based on three key components – Umbrella Species Health, Habitat Quality and Theory of Change implementation – mutliplied by the Habitat Area (in hectares).
The Methodology is currently being used by ERA Brazil to generate biodiversity credits as part of the Pantanal Jaguar Stewardship Project which seeks to enhance jaguar conservation efforts across 50,000 hectares of habitat, managed by Instituto Homem Pantaneiro.
