The Swedish Biocredit Alliance is led by the World Forest Forum Foundation along with Qarlbo Biodiversity, Norra Skog, Södra Skogsägarna, and Umeå Municipality as the steering committee. It has developed the Global Biocredit Standard.
The Global Biocredit Standard includes mandatory high-level principles applicable to all projects seeking to issue credits for activities in terrestrial ecosystems in production landscapes with the aim of creating positive biodiversity outcomes. The high-level requirements presented in the standard are also meant to provide guidance to organisations that seek to propose and develop methodologies with specific requirements for projects with the objective to issue biocredits from Nordic production landscapes.
