The Organization for Biodiversity Certificates (OBC) unites companies, NGOs and scientific experts to achieve a common objective: creating an operational tool for the evaluation of local positive biodiversity impacts.
The OBC biodiversity certificate standard focused on:
- Methodology for assessing projects’ biodiversity gains using Biodiversity Carrying Capacity (capacity of the ecosystem to host and support species)
- Credit certification process
- Credit trading/usage (market) framework
Starting in 2024, OBC will launch pilot projects in 8 countries (France, Peru, Ivory Coast, Togo, Chad, India, Cameroon and Congo).
