The International Carbon Registry is developing a Biodiversity Program to generate area-based Biodiversity Net Gain Credits. The program adopts methodologies and programs such as the Interoperable Biodiversity Unit, co-designed by Savimbo.
Third-party methodologies will be accepted but are not mandatory for project design and implementation. Projects not using an approved methodology must draft a Comprehensive Biodiversity Action Plan (CBAP), addressing the necessary methodological and monitoring aspects in detail, using a site-specific approach.
