The Green Credit Programme (GCP) is an initiative by the Government of India to encourage industries, companies, and other entities to undertake voluntary environmental measures, particularly tree plantation, resulting in the award of Green Credits. The overall administration of the scheme will be under the Indian Council for Forestry Research and Education – an autonomous organisation / governmental agency. Credits are allocated at the rate of 1 Green Credit per tree, on the generation of a plantation completion certificate in the Green Credit Programme portal.
