The maps highlight programs and initiatives for voluntary biodiversity credits—a way to recognise and finance measurable, positive outcomes for nature.
We show whether an initiative appears active (documentation in place; projects registering or issuing units) or emerging (under development, consultation or piloting). To keep focus on biodiversity outcomes, we exclude compliance based offsets and carbon schemes with “co benefits” or “stapled” carbon.
Information is compiled from reputable public sources and, where possible, direct outreach to program teams; the map is intended to evolve with your feedback. If something is missing or needs updating, please let us know via the contact form.
The resource library curates practical, plain English materials to help Indigenous Peoples, local communities and allies participate in nature markets with confidence. You’ll find readiness checklists, MRV guides, examples of governance and benefit sharing, explainers of methods and standards, case studies, and templates for negotiations and finance. We prioritise resources that are free to access, grounded in practice, and respectful of cultural context and data sovereignty. Every item is tagged by topic, region and type so you can filter quickly and compare options.
We review each submission for relevance, clarity and applicability. Some guidance is region specific, so always check local requirements and seek independent advice where needed. If you have a resource to add or a correction, please submit it for review.
Pollination Foundation is an Australian not-for-profit, established by Pollination in 2020 to support the transition to a net zero, nature positive future. Our purpose is to benefit the natural environment and the Australian public by advancing the science, policy, financial and community solutions needed to regenerate nature and strengthen climate resilience. Working with our partners, we developed the Marketplace for Nature to connect sellers and buyers of nature credits, and to support readiness of Indigenous Nations to participate in nature markets with confidence.
Many organisations have been part of the journey to bring the Marketplace for Nature Toolkit (this website) to life. It started from humble beginnings as an online map of Biodiversity Credit Market Schemes. Over time it combined with Pollination Foundation’s Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities Incubator Project resulting in this compendium of maps, reports, case studies and practical resources centred around readiness. We’re grateful to everyone who provided case studies, contributed data and information, attended workshops, shared stories and funded this work.
