The project promotes biocultural diversity, mitigates climate change, and fosters sustainable livelihoods in the Infiernillo Channel within Comcaac Indigenous Territory of the Gulf of California, Northwest Mexico. Tribal conservation leaders leverage their 2,000-year heritage to protect seagrasses and mangroves, thereby providing critical habitat for endangered species while addressing the poverty that threatens the socio-ecological integrity of this coastal desert ecosystem.
