Oceanfamr offers Aquaculture Farm Management Software to oyster, mussel and seaweed farm operators. Oceanfarmr Marine Ecosystem Certificates are measureable through the app and validated by GPS and photos. These certificates are currently being sold as sponsored data to enable Oceanfarmr Farm to Restore Programs.
There are different types of certificates offered, including Protection Certification (action-based and outcomes-based to allow for protection of marine environments), Restoration Certificates (action-based and outcomes-based to allow for regeneration of marine environments, value greater than a Protection Certificate), Marine Biodiversity Certificates (species diversity and species counts), Eutrophication Certificate Capture of Nitrogen and Phosphorus from the water, Blue Carbon Certificates and Social and Economic Certificates.
Oceanfarmr is currently working with researchers from the University of Wollongong in the ‘Farm to Restore’ pilot study to explore methods and metrics for measuring biodiversity on oyster farms in Australia. The collaboration between Oceanfarmr, UOW, and the participating farmers will pave the way for evidence-based approaches and provide opportunities for farmers to generate income through biodiversity credits.
